What I liked

What I wish was different

Advice

Working for the USG is great because after six months, you can apply for TAP and have your next degree be fully funded. The pay isn't the best, but if you can make it work, the environment, the people, and the benefits are more than worth it.

Advice

As with most work, the enjoyment people get out of being an assistant coach relies heavily on the personality, beliefs, and behaviors of the head coach. If you want to get into coaching, do your homework and find out who you really want to work with. The right coaching relationship is worth waiting for.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

January 2018 • Kennesaw, GA

What I liked

I like researching with my professor because of the gained experiences from being able to work in a laboratory setting are informational. You are groomed on how to think like a scientist, encounter and solve complex problems, and collaborate with colleagues on a common issue.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have started researching a bit earlier to lengthen the time spent learning as much as possible with regards to hard skills and different equipment.

Advice

Learn as much as you can and if possible, work over the summer or rotate in between several labs before settling on your ideal lab. Each lab is different in how the professor teaches, what type of research is being done, and what experiences might come out of your time in that lab in question.
