Welcome to National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)! NIEHS is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The mission of NIEHS is to discover how the environment affects people in order to promote healthier lives. As one of the largest research agencies dedicated to using environmental sciences to understand human disease and to improve human health, NIEHS fosters scientific learning and discovery and provides learning opportunities for all career stages.

NIEHS Summer Internship Program: 8-12 week internship program during the summer for current undergraduate and graduate students. NIEHS Scholars Connect Program (NSCP): Summer + academic year program for undergraduates. NIEHS Postbac Program- Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award (Postbac IRTA): 1-2-year training program for recent graduates who are interested in attending professional or graduate school after their fellowship.
