Ross Dress for Less

Sales Associate

June - September 2018 • Delano, CA

What I liked

The relationships built with other coworkers made our job a little bit easier, considering that we would all work together as a team, and also have that nonchalant mood with each other but also get down to business as well. You also meet many customers from different places, not knowing who you'd meet.

What I wish was different

More associates working on the sales floor during hectic rush hours would have been easier, instead of leaving someone to stay on the task all over the sales floor, since you are working with clothes with many departments, and having only one person can be very overwhelming when trying to clean up the store.

Advice

Ross Dress for Less is very hectic, considering that it is a discount store and there are many thing sold in it. It is a fast-paced job, but you do get the hang of everything once it's well-adapted in your mind, in which it'll become easier to do your job but still feel very overwhelmed with what situations come.

Sales associate

June - August 2018 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

I liked the overall work and employees. Many of the employees and the managers were respectful and understanding if there were any concerns.

What I wish was different

What I wish what had been different was being more out spoken if i had any questions, during the first few weeks I did not ask much and that affect some of the working process. I also wish I could have applied sooner.

Advice

One piece of advice is that this job involves a lot of strength and ability to stand long hours, but overall it is not extremely difficult job to handle.

Retail Leader Intern

May - August 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I really liked how much freedom they gave me, right off the bat. They threw me into their meetings and daily routines. While it was hectic at times, they gave any and all necessary help. I also really liked the days the internship had when we were out of the office, getting a taste of other areas of the business.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a tad more structure to the internship. I think some of the other interns had varying experiences from mine. I also wish that the recruiting process was a little quicker. I applied in January and did not hear back until April.

Advice

Go in with an open mind and a willingness to work! You will learn a lot, but you have to be ready to work for it.

I loved the opportunity for growth in the company

What I wish was different

There was not much accountability for associates. If a policy was broken, there was no follow up on making sure the incidents weren't repeated.
