Becoming a gardener on the Grounds Crew for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has given me many unforgettable experiences. I have met great people, learned so many things about horticulture, and I have had the privilege of making our campus look beautiful for all of the current and future blugold students and faculty.
What I wish was different
There is not anything I would change about my experience as a gardener. The hard work and dedication that goes into this job is all worth it once you see the end result.
Advice
Step out of your comfort zone, and do something you normally wouldn't do! You never know where it can lead you, or what you can learn from the experience!

What I liked
The people working with me. I had a really good team. I also liked my custodial officers, they were awesome.
What I wish was different
Our pay should have been higher or increased as the month goes.
Advice
With custodial, it's never easy. Appreciate all the janitors around the campus because they worked very hard ALL summer to make sure it looks pretty in the fall.

The management, my co-workers, and my work duties.
This position was very promising, it gave me great opportunities, and it enabled me to better myself every day.
What I wish was different
The workload, it was quiet last summer, but I did enjoy doing all of the work that came to me as it came to me.

Take it seriously, practice and learn the entire time you're working here!

What I liked
I love getting to work with prospective and incoming students to show them why UWEC is such a great place to be for school and social life. There’s so much to do here and it’s always enjoyable to get to share how great campus is.
What I wish was different
The weather, even though I can’t control that. It got really hot and humid some days walking up and down the hill.
Advice
Never be afraid to step outside your comfor zone and do something you didn’t think you could.
