What I liked

I loved collaborating with fellow colleagues on strategies to provide our consumers with autism with the best possible individualized care. Being able to help write the programming and provide training on these skills, as well as putting them to use myself with direct care was very rewarding.

What I wish was different

Because of the COVID pandemic, even after its peak, it was challenging to continuously come up with COVID friendly opportunities to get our consumers into the community consistently. COVID made it challenging to fully immerse our consumers among other community members, but we were able to still come up with strategies on how to continue to practice these life-skills.

Advice

Being able to go to work each day knowing that the work i was participating in was directly impacting the life of another person means so much. The work was challenging and took strong problem solving skills, but seeing the smiles of our consumers each day gave me more than enough motivation.
