What I liked
I loved being able to apply my knowledge directly. What I learned I got to experience hands on almost immediately, with authentic materials relevant to my field of study. The environment was stunning, and the weather was beautiful, but the culture really grabbed onto me. We handled baby lambs, made goat cheese, visited Knossos and other important archaeological sites. I learned even more about the rich mythology of ancient Greece, and when I visited Zeus's Cave, the cave in Crete where Zeus, king of the gods, was hidden as a baby to avoid being devoured by his father Kronos, I was absolutely flabbergasted. The people showed immense kindness, and the town was simply a tiny shepherding community yet it was full of life, and riches of its own. I found the olive trees like silver and the Aegean like emeralds. I cannot wait to go back some day.
