Adolfson & Peterson Construction

Field Engineer Intern

May - August 2020 • Wellington, CO

What I liked

Great Experience working on a large new high school/middle school build. Working with the subcontractors was fun and a great learning process. Kept me busy most days where 9+ hours didn't seem that long. A&P allows OT, so you can really make as much as you want to.

What I wish was different

Wasn't the best chemistry between myself and some other employees. Wish we would have more time to learn how to work better together, but that's how it can be with a 3-month internship. Obviously COVD took away the usual intern events that a company might have. Or any real training. Felt like I didn't really get the full internship experience.

Advice

Do a 6-month internship. Get the full exposure. 3-month is good experience. But sometimes you need more time to feel like youre really doing the job.

Construction Estimator Intern

May - August 2019 • Fort Collins, CO

What I liked

The company was prepared for their interns and oriented us to our summer positions. Very professional image.

What I wish was different

I don't have any complaints. AP was accommodating to my needs and supported me the entire summer.

Advice

Set goals for yourself and pursue them. It's a great way to get more out of your internship.

field intern

April 2019 • Aurora, CO

What I liked

I really enjoyed how everyone wanted to help me get better and have experiences that would prepare me for the future. The people there were also great to be around and were always happy to help with anything.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have worked on a new building being built, but was able to learn a lot from what I did instead, which was school renovations.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share, would be to put yourself out there and try to work and learn as much as you can during your internship. You wont know everything about construction, and that's okay, because they wont expect you to be perfect.
