The college program which I am in works with you on your class schedule and provides all the training you could ever need for the role. Personal Development time is built in once you get going and there is a huge support system behind you. My team and I have gotten to know each other pretty well and my manager has been extremely supportive.
What I wish was different
Accrual based PTO isn't my favorite at Apple. A more flexible schedule would be great.
Advice
This is a heavily customer-facing position. If customer service isn't your favorite thing, this may not be for you. However if you're good with people, and you like talking, definitely check it out!

What I liked
It wasn't too stressful or hard, people were nice.
What I wish was different
Not much.
Advice
If you have experience with Arduino/Raspberry Pi/hobbyist projects, this job is pretty similar. You'll be working with microprocessors, level shifters, I2C sensors, SPI sensors, etc.

What I liked
The fact that we get no commission so our work and help is genuine and the best that we can recommend. Honesty is also key over at Apple so it was amazing to hear. Lastly, everything I learned and am still learning, can be and has been used in my day to day life

What I liked
Apple is very understanding with your work schedule! Loved the fact that they provided me with a brand new iMac, Smart Keyboard, and mouse! Pay is ✨great✨ Let’s just say everybody 🍗ate🍗. In all seriousness would definitely recommend (in fact I do) because you gain an innumerable amount of leadership experience/skills!
What I wish was different
I wish that they would allow students to actually work on the iMac outside of work, and I also wish they were more empathetic towards at home network issues.
Advice
Have some good internet, always participate in the events and games/raffling opportunities to win free merch! Also, do NOT get a double, get a single for housing. You cannot have this job and have a roommate🫶🏾.

What I liked
I love that the job is catered towards college students. This way, the hours work around your class schedule, increase during summer and other breaks, and adapt to tests.
What I wish was different
I wish the onboard training schedule was more lenient.
Advice
Go for jobs in companies you may not have adequate experience for. Many roles for college students understand that we all come from different backgrounds and can adapt to our qualifications.

Finance Intern
June - September 2021 • Cupertino, CA
What I liked
I felt like the work I did actually mattered and I was contributing to the team, and everyone I worked with and met throughout the internship was so eager to help me out in any way they could.
What I wish was different
The internship was remote, so I missed out on many opportunities to connect with coworkers and other interns.
Advice
Make sure to take the time to connect with everyone on your team and set up informational interviews with as many people in the organization that you can! Take advantage of the fact that you're an intern so everyone is willing to chat and give you advice.

What I liked
Great people to work with, great benefits
What I wish was different
No opportunities to move up, very rigid company with inflexible policies
Advice
Big companies like this can be very ignorant of people on the bottom. Don’t expect to stay in a big company for very long.

Tooling Design Intern
June - September 2021 • Sunnyvale, CA
What I liked
Big company with a lot of resources to make projects happen, worked in a lab which meant hands-on work was a big part of my job, good overall culture, the amazing quality of products is really cool to see, I had good amounts of responsibility and good work life balance.
What I wish was different
Only intern at my location so I got lonely sometimes, however I found some other interns in nearby locations to get lunch with by reaching out through slack. Also difficult to network when isolated in the lab.
Advice
Some people have had different experiences at Apple in terms of fulfillment, so make sure you know your job description and have talked with your manager about it. Network as much as possible since people are willing to have 1-1’s with interns for your own personal and professional growth. Go to Apple Park and try the gelato, if you can.

What I liked
I really liked all the intern events they held throughout the summer. They worked hard to make sure all the interns had an opportunity to connect with each other.
What I wish was different

Advice

Project Manager Intern
May - August 2021 • Cupertino, CA
What I liked
I loved learning about project management and the field in general. I was able to connect with and learn from employees at Apple. It was an incredible opportunity and I solidified my desire to continue project management post graduation.
What I wish was different
I wish the internship had been a little bit more structured. It was hard to remotely intern and I think adding in a structured feedback process would have helped.
