It was the best experience of my life as I was a camper at this camp for many years and being able to give back at the place that gave me so much meant the world. It is a great place to work and is so rewarding.

What I liked
My favorite part of my job is making connections with the children that come through camp. It is a sleep away camp, so I am with my group of 10, 10 year old girls for two weeks at a time. So, I got to meet a lot of children this summer.
What I wish was different
It was a challenging summer. I had a handful of challenging children within my cabin.
Advice
If you are in it for the money, this is not the job for you. I do this job because I grew up going to this summer camp and it is a second home to me. You do this job to make a difference in a child's life.

What I liked
I love working outside and being able to inspire others. Camp is the perfect place to do these things. I was able to help children grow as leaders while also taking on a managerial position at the age of 21. I had a staff of 15 counselors and it was awesome gaining this experience while giving back to something bigger than myself.
What I wish was different
Advice
If you are nervous about summer camp not being a "good" job for experience, you're wrong! Summer camp jobs teach many valuable life skills that can be applied in almost any other work field. You gain insane leadership and cultural awareness experience on top of everything else.

What I liked
I liked being able to give kids an incredible summered try things that they would not have the opportunities to do at home! Also seeing how much children can grow over 2 weeks is amazing!
What I wish was different
It is a draining job, but I absolutely loved it
Advice
Make sure to have ways to destress during your time off! Time off is limited, but the job is so rewarding that it is worth it!
