Camp Manito-wish YMCA

About Camp Manito-wish YMCA

Camp Manito-wish provides a combination of traditional camp activities (archery, horsemanship, swimming, etc.) and wilderness tripping for youth entering 5th through 10th grade. There are separate 3-week boys and girls sessions, as well as 2-weeks of Family Camp. Boys Camp runs through June, Family Camp in early July, and Girls Camp from mid-July to mid-August.

Our programming puts emphasis on the wilderness experience and we use it as a resource to facilitate growth and leadership development in partnership with our in-camp experience. Along with Summer Camp, Manito-wish also features a robust wilderness expeditions program called Outpost and Leadership Program that facilitates teambuilding activities for a multitude of camp and community groups.

We have full and part summer opportunities for staff members who are 18 years and older. These positions include working as a Program Staff member (i.e. nature skills instructor, boathouse assistant, craftshop assistant, sports instructor etc.), Counselor, or Leadership Facilitator.

If you have any questions about these positions or any other positions not mentioned, and their specific descriptions, requirements, and/or duties, check out our website, or contact us!

Counselor and Tennis Instructor

May 2018 - August 2019 Boulder Junction, WI
“This is an amazing job that is so much fun! You are getting paid to be outside all of the time and meet some awesome campers and staff members. One of the big parts is also going on a canoe, backpacking, or kayaking trip! Definitely a really cool experience that I can't recommend more!”

Camp Counselor, Waterfront Assistant

June 2021 - August 2021 Boulder Junction, WI
“Camp Manitowish is really a community of people who all want each other to succeed. I had that feeling while being interviewed for the position. it was not an interrogation and waiting for you to slip up, but rather a conversation about how you function as a person and where you will fit best in the community. Everyone has a place in the Manitowish Experience :)”
