The staff development was fantastic. We received a full customer service training circuit similar to that of Chik-Fil-A , with components dedicated to de-escalation, how to serve different generations, resume-building, and more.

What I liked
I enjoyed being able to further expose myself to teaching. I also enjoyed being able to make connections and work with children over the summer.
What I wish was different
I wish that I was able to form deeper connections with some of my coworkers. I also wish that I was able to experience more of the surrounding nature.
Advice
Having a servants heart is something that is so important for this job. Being flexible and knowing you are there to serve the guests is something that is so helpful to enjoying your time there as an employee.

Activity Area Head and Camp Counselor

What I liked
Camp of the Woods has a wonderful culture and many opportunities to explore areas you know nothing about. It is an outdoors camp so you spend most of your time outdoors. You have the opportunity to get trained in various outdoor activities such as lifeguarding, archery, rock climbing/belaying, backpacking, etc. You also make develop long-lasting relationships and fun memories.
What I wish was different
I wish the pay was higher, but camp counseling jobs usually don't have high pay.
Advice
Be ready for a lot of energy and work.

What I liked
My co-workers were great, so enjoyable. Beautiful setting. Pace is perfect for people who work well under stress and also enjoy extended periods of quiet solitude.
What I wish was different
More in-person training and general communication with my supervisors.
Advice
Keep asking questions and requesting necessary equipment of your supervisor as many times as needed until they respond. You know what is needed for you to do your job well, so make sure they hear you and hear the importance of your request.
