What I liked

The internship program was incredibly inclusive and the campus team was very accommodating and reachable. My project was tailored to the kind of work that I wanted to experience, and I was able to learn about technologies I wanted to experience. My team and leadership were always willing to speak to me, and the program really helped me feel like part of the team.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship had been in person, however this was a product of circumstance. Other than that, I thought that the internship program was one of the best experiences I have had.

Advice

Take advantage of the opportunities that Capital Group provides and reach out to leaders and people with roles that interest you, they are very open to chatting for a while.

My only wish is that we could've done it in person, but this was entirely out of CG's control!

Global Finance Summer Associate

What I liked

I am grateful for having the opportunity of working with Capital Group this summer. The CG Campus Team worked diligently to provide the 2020 Summer Associates a fulfilling virtual internship experience. Despite the pandemic pushing us to work from home, I was still able to experience the welcoming culture at Capital Group. Not only did my close team members aid me along the way for my summer project, but other CG associates from various business areas reached out to welcome me and were willing to offer their help. It is evident that Capital Group cares about their associates and that associates care about each other's success.

What I wish was different

My tasks for the summer revolved entirely on the summer project, but I wish I had been able to work on some business as usual activities to learn more about T.A. Billing (the team I was assigned to).

Advice

Take advantage of all the resources the company has available to you. This includes everything ranging from online courses you can take to polish your skills to networking with as many associates as possible to establish valuable connections.

Investment Operations Summer Associate

What I liked

I had a great experience being an Investment Operations Summer Associate. I had the opportunity to network with dozens of experienced associates discussing career advice and more. I felt like the work I was given was challenging and interesting and the advice from my manager and mentors helped guide me through the summer.

What I wish was different

I wish the program was in person but under the difficult circumstances I was very thankful that I was still able to have a virtual internship with Capital Group.

Advice

Network and reach out to as many associates as you can. It helped me figure out what aspects of the company interested me the most and I received great advice for my future.

Information Technology Summer Associate

What I liked

I really liked the work culture, learning about the different areas of technology, the networking aspect, and the support system. Everyone at Capital Group was so welcoming and it made me feel more comfortable to reach out and meet with people 1:1 to network. I also really liked that I was provided with a good support system such as having a mentor, manager, and buddy. Last, I really liked the weekly coffee chats with full-time associates to discuss different areas of technology. and understanding how those areas are used to drive the business. It was a really great experience!

What I wish was different

I would have liked to be in the office although that is something that was out of CG's control!

Advice

One piece of advice I would have is to always ask questions, and network as much as possible! The company has many full-time associates who are more than willing to meet with you.
