Casey's

Total Rewards Intern

May - August 2023 • Ankeny, IA

What I liked

The company culture was amazing, and there was a strong internship program with many opportunities for professional development available to the interns.

What I wish was different

I wish the projects would've been spread out more over the course of the summer. I was given all of my projects at the beginning of my internship, and by the end of the summer I had very few things to do.

Advice

Take advantage of meeting people from other departments! Everyone in the company was open to having me sit in on job-shadowing opportunities, or sitting down to lunch so I could learn more about them and their positon.

Sale Associate

July 2019 - August 2020 • Valley Center, KS

What I liked

I liked that a lot of customer were friendly. You always had your frequent flyer who would come in every day for the same things. Those customer always tried to make such polite small talk if they had the time.

What I wish was different

I wish the management was better. IT was always hard for e to get days off when I needed them because management would loose my notes or forget. Fir the year I was working there, they were always understaffed and needed me to work extra hours but as a college student already juggling 3 jobs, it was hard for me to get there when they needed me. When I couldn't make it they would be unset with me.

Advice

If you can work anywhere else, work else where. I would not recommend anyone work at the Casey's because of the poor management and the unprofessional drama that occurs constantly.

Kitchen Worker-

June 2019 • Brooklyn, IA

What I liked

I liked getting out and working with other adults. I also liked that this job was close to home so I didn't have a lot of extra expenses driving to work.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to have had set hours. My schedule varied from week to week with regard to what evenings I was working. I primarily worked in the evening, but the days I worked varied.

Advice

You may not always see eye to eye with everyone you work with or encounter. This experience helped me learn how to handle situations when I didn't always agree with what everyone else was doing.
