The close connection the PCAT program created between the volunteer and patient. Volunteers were a liaison for the patients, in addition, we were presented the opportunity to shadow physicians.
What I wish was different
I wish there was more training available, or the option to take a greater role in the hospital after a certain duration of the experience. I felt slightly limited in my own ability to provide for the patient.
Advice
I recommend this experience to incoming freshman, especially if they are unsure of the speciality they would like to pursue beyond undergrad.

What I liked
I loved how great of a team they have there. How well they worked with my schedule. They made me feel like I could ask any questions and not feel like a burden. They taught me a lot everyday.
What I wish was different
Absolutely nothing. It was a great experience exactly how I expected it to be.
Advice
Take advantage of it as much as possible. Be in the moment and try to learn everything you can. It’s a humbling experience.

What I liked
I liked that I got a lot of hands-on experience in a field that I was actually interested in, and I was able to further my healthcare and medical development with this experience. I thought that this was a very vital skill for me to have as a pre med student
