What I liked

The people at Celanese are wonderful. They were very welcoming and patient with me, helping me to understand my role and more about the company. They were willing to sit down and talk to me about their career paths and what they liked about Celanese.

What I wish was different

I would have liked more projects to work on because there were times I had nothing to do and felt bad about that.

Advice

I was definitely impressed with the importance of networking. Getting jobs and moving upwards in jobs are all about who you know, so that was my major takeaway.

What I liked

Very good environment to learn in. Great community and a wonderful opportunity overall to help start a career in engineering.

What I wish was different

I wish the summer had been longer so I could have worked more before returning to school for my senior year.

Advice

Ask as many questions as you can, no one will judge you for not knowing the answer as an intern.

Medical Business Intern

What I liked

Amazing company culture, very friendly and welcoming coworkers, sense of community and personal accomplishment, generous flexibility in work hours and more emphasis on the work being done well and on time than micromanagement. In addition, there were many outreach and social/networking events and opportunities to participate in the company values, sub-organizations, and culture, even within the short time frame of an internship. I learned an incredible amount about the medical device industry as well as the polymer material supplier industry. I feel that I grew a lot on personal and professional levels during this experience.

What I wish was different

I wish that my role had been slightly more technical or design oriented in order to slightly better utilize my engineering major. However, I believe that this contrasting application of my background was incredibly valuable to experience as well and provided me with a different perspective.

Advice

If you need to relocate, start looking for apartments/places to live ASAP. In the area it is somewhat difficult to find reasonably priced short-term leases.It would also help to request to be set up with a contact at the Irving office who knows more about whichever area that you are trying to find accommodations in (most of the Dallas employees seem to commute). A car would be very useful to have if you are able to bring one.
