Our mission is to create an engaged and environmentally ready society, one where everyone has the skills to find solutions to the challenges facing the earth. We give students from all disciplines a first-hand understanding of our reliance on natural systems, and hands-on experience applying their interests and skills to real-world challenges in the community. Each year, 1500 SSU students learn how the ecosystems work at SSU’s three preserves totaling 4200 acres of natural lands, and 700 students work with faculty on over 120 projects with community partners.
