ABA Therapist

April 2019 • Farmington, MI

What I liked

There are many job options. Being a tech takes some time to do testing and receive a certificate. But after you start it’s beautiful working with these innocent kids and helping them with their learnings and behaviors.

What I wish was different

I definitely recommend at an in home session than in the center. The parents need our help to teach them good roles to help there kids. So, it’s best if the parents are around to stick to what we teach the child.

Advice

There are good days and there are bad days. Sometimes that child doesn’t want to do work but you got to try ways to have him/her enjoy it more.

ABA Therapy Technician

April 2019 • Grand Rapids, MI

What I liked

Great company, meaningful work! I loved working with Centria so much I actually agreed to stay on as my kiddos only technician (originally there were two) and we crafted a therapy schedule that worked for my classes and the family’s schedule! I can’t tell you how excited I get to go to work and see my kiddo crush his goals and slowly learn how to use his words to communicate with the world around him. He is the best part of my day.

What I wish was different

Slightly disorganized with my superiors. My BCBA is wonderful and always accessible but I can never get ahold of my CSM when I need her.

Advice

This isn’t just a summer job, this is something that changes a child’s life, and their family’s life, and their community as a whole. What you’re doing is so immeasurably important, don’t forget that.

Wonderful people who are genuinely passionate about helping change the lives of these amazing kiddos and their families! Compassion is #1 here. Great communication with team members. Lots of opportunity for advancement and further training. Provides ABA Certification for FREE and you are able to keep your credentials if you choose to leave the company.

What I wish was different

Lots of turnover with CSM's.

If you are a Social Work, Special Education or Psychology student who loves working with kids and their families and or have personal experience with Autism this will be the most rewarding job you've ever had. You become a part of these families and they are so grateful for what you and your team are doing for their child. It's hard to wrap your head around the immeasurable impact you are having on not just your kiddo's life but their family's life, as well as their surrounding community.
