What I liked

It was a great opportunity to figure out that I do not like working with Middle School students as much as I thought that I did and it confirmed that my heart really is to work with High School students.

What I wish was different

Youth Ministry is hard in today's culture. I wish that the focus on Jesus and the Gospel would have been greater than coming up with activities to attract students and keep them busy.

Advice

At the end of the day, these students are just waiting for someone to show up in their life, listen, and love on them regardless of what they have gone through or the choices that they have made. It is definitely important to be strong in your convictions and beliefs before working in Youth Ministry.
