Public Relations and Marketing Intern

February - May 2018 • Vestal, NY

What I liked

My job was mainly working with the director of training at Corelife, with administrative duties, preparing training materials for future Corelife head coaches. Vestal is actually the headquarters of this eatery, and it was really cool to be able to talk with head coaches who flew in from places all over, like Nashville, Ohio, and Florida. One of my favorite opportunities through this internship was collaborating with the Fashion Runway Club on campus and serving as a Corelife representative at our annual fashion show.

What I wish was different

Through this internship, I was able to gain real life skills, and build my professional network. One thing I would have loved to do, is to get more involved in the community. The local marketing director often went to the local community to participate in events like a 5k, or a Binghamton Rumble Ponies game, as a Corelife representative. I would have enjoyed joining her and learning even more marketing skills while tabling, and connecting with locals.

Advice

Networking is key! I was able to land this internship because of a personal network, through a casual conversation with a friend, and it just happened that she knew the director of training at Corelife! Don't be afraid to step out, and connect with others!
