Dallas Children's Theater

Carpenter Intern

May - August 2019 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

The people were incredibly friendly and willing to show you the ropes for any skills, techniques, or tools that you haven't learned or used. The atmosphere was pretty laid-back, but things were done on time

What I wish was different

I wish that I could've had more hands on work. However, I understood that I couldn't get involved in that without possibly costing time and money. I also wish I got paid a bit more, I had a hard time sustaining myself full-time with this internship and had to switch to part-time.

Advice

You will get sore, you may get bored, you also may get a few bumps and bruises, but you'll come out more valuable than you started and with a friend or two. That makes it worth it.

Education Intern

April - July 2019 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

No matter what the kids were like the interns and teachers would all come together at the end of the day and loft each other up

What I wish was different

I know they don't have many classrooms but I wish that there was more than three classes during camp. Maybe for the younger ones a rest time should be given.

Advice

No matter what I was going through, everybody there cared. If you needed some emotion space they were willing to talk a bit then give tou your space. There have only been a few places that I have workes where this much care is given to its employees and interns.
