I liked that I had a dedicated mentor who was responsible for overseeing my progress and ensure I was picking up on valuable skills that I will need to do the job I want.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had been better prepared to negotiate salary or job offers before accepting a summer position. I could have made myself seem more competitive with such practice.
Advice
Try to learn all that you can from your mentor or your experience, but don't stop there. Continue to grow in your learning through other means and develop other avenues of acquiring knowledge outside your organization. This will help you get a better understanding of where you stand in the marketplace as far as skills and hirability goes and provide vision to what other companies expectations are for a similar position to the one you seek.
