I loved getting to see how a nonprofit organization operates, and the staff at DVIS was very welcoming, helpful, and fun. The internship was also through the George Kaiser Summer Impact Program, so it was great to learn about Tulsa's nonprofit scene as a whole and to learn about the Kaiser Family Foundation. I also loved getting to go through the experience with the other summer interns.
What I wish was different
I do wish I would have been able to do more hands on work at DVIS or work more related to my major of psychology. However, it was still great to see all that goes into the organization as a whole and I understand the difficulty of letting undergraduates work in those more hands on roles.
Advice
For anyone doing an internship through the Kaiser Summer Impact Program, I definitely recommend making it to all the events that you can, asking questions, learning as much as possible, and networking. It is an experience full of opportunity!
