What I liked

Figure Skating in Harlem demonstrates its dedication to its mission everyday. Both the skaters and the staff create an uplifting and powerful environment. I felt honored to be a part of such an intentional community.

What I wish was different

My possession at FSH was fluid, as a result, I took on many roles during my internship: skating coach, fitness instructor, high school student officer, and chaperone. Sometimes it was difficult balancing my responsibilities, especially when unexpected obstacles came up.

Advice

Working at an organization with young people requires a specific set of skills and interests. To succeed at FSH, one must be fully committed to honoring the rights and needs of young people. This requires patients, compassion, and adaptability.
