I wish there was some sort of stipend for gas as it’s a far distance but I understand this is hard to do
Advice
You learn a lot about specific research tactics that you probably haven’t done before so don’t panic and remember to be prepared for anything and learn along the way!

What I liked
I loved the experience.
What I wish was different
Nothing specific to the internship but I wish I had more time to devote to driving to St. Pete.
Advice
The people are very kind and willing to help with whatever I needed. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and ask questions.

Environmental Scientist Intern
May - August 2018 • St. Petersburg, FL
What I liked
I loved seeing all of the different marine specimens, and learing how to identify them. I met some great people and really enjoyed my experience.
What I wish was different
The drive from Tampa to St. Pete during morning rush hour was not fun, but it was all worth it in the end .
Advice
Be sure to make strong networking connections, start early in your academic career.

Gopher Tortoise Intern
August - December 2017 • Tallahassee, FL
What I liked
The work was rewarding- we (me, and my co-intern for the program) got to see our projects immediately implemented and helping wildlife.
What I wish was different
I wish I had realized what a time commitment this was. My supervisor was incredible and put no pressure on me to work outside the 10 hours we agreed on but 10 hours can be a lot when you are already a full time student.
Advice
ENJOY! Have fun with the internship and ask questions. Everyone in the office is there because they share the same career goals and passions as you.
