What I liked

I liked being mentored from experienced nurses. I liked having hands on experience, as that is the best learning environment you can have in this career. I liked the tips and tricks that I learned on the job and being encouraged by other nurses who helped me learn.

What I wish was different

I was content with my experience; however, a longer time (more than 8 weeks) would have been even better for my experience.

Advice

If you get an opportunity to venture out and put your skills to practice, i encourage you to do so, because I would not give my experience back for anything. It molds you, shapes you, and helps you realize if you are truly in your desired field!

What I liked

The hands on experience and truly learning how to be a nurse. I liked how it was like being in clinical, but I was being paid.

What I wish was different

I wish that we could have chosen which area of the hospital we wanted.

Advice

Try to learn everything you can during the externship, because it will help you tremendously in school.
