Gallup

Financial Analytics Intern

May - August 2019 • Omaha, NE

What I liked

I absolutely loved the company culture and the experiential learning. I was given real problems which I was able to present to others within the company. The challenging but fun work taught me a lot about what I want to do in the future. I had great mentors as well that pushed me but also were there for help and support whenever I needed it!

Advice

I would say get to know the other interns right away! The summer got way better when we all decided to become close! Also, definitely get in on intramural ultimate frisbee.

Financial Analytics Intern

May - August 2019 • Omaha, NE

What I liked

I love the culture at Gallup and the opportunity to continuously learn. After this internship, I have such a better understanding of what will actually be asked of me in a full-time position as a Financial Analyst. Everyone I worked with was so kind and willing to help me reach my full potential as an employee. They were extremely flexible with my scheduling requests, and the summer still felt like a collegiate summer while working hard and learning lots. I made great friends with the other interns and felt that my managers both walked with me and pushed me to be my best. Can't say enough good things about Gallup!

What I liked

The work culture at Gallup is amazing. They are big on collaboration and acknowledging outstanding work. Managers are supportive and collaborative while also pushing employees to put forth their best work on an everyday basis.

What I wish was different

I can't think of anything I would have changed. The entire internship ran smoothly and I was extremely happy with my experience.

Advice

Be open and build your social network while you are there. Everyone is so welcoming and it will make your experience that much more enjoyable if you develop strong connections while you are there.

Software Developer Intern

What I liked

I really loved the work culture here. It is extremely inclusive and gives everyone an opportunity to showcase their talents and do what they do best. I received constant feedback from my mentors which have helped me grow in leaps and bounds as a professional. Gallup focuses on the welness of employees as well and constantly organizes fun events that keep one in shape, both physically and mentally.

What I wish was different

I wish the program could have been a bit longer. I feel like I have adapted really well to the expectations and challenges at the workplace and I am gutted that its time to go back to school.

Advice

Gallup is pretty particular about who they hire and are strong advocates of a culture based on strengths. If you receive an internship offer, don't hesitate one bit and go for it.

Business Development Intern

May - August 2019 • Omaha, NE

What I liked

The learning opportunities were endless. From learning my All 34 with the CliftonStrengths Discovery course to being given many Gallup books to enhance my knowledge, I never expected to learn so much. The onboarding experience was great to fully learn about what Gallup is before diving into my role. As a sales intern, I was challenged each and every day since our hard work and motivation is what provides outcomes. The support from my go-to was absolutely unreal, and I owe a lot of my positive experience to her.

What I wish was different

I wish the timeline could have been longer. We were not given leads until the 4th week of the 12 week internship and then had about six weeks to fill seats for a learning opportunity at Gallup.

Advice

This experience was my first sales-like role. The leads we were given had purchased the CliftonStrengths Assessment within the last year, so it was a great learning opportunity to test out my best tactic on what strategy worked best for me. Everyone approaches sales in a different way so it was great to shadow and learn from the experts! Don't be afraid to hear "no" because you will grow from it. Also become involved and network with all of the individuals as much as possible.

Digital Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • Omaha, NE

What I liked

Gallup's summer internship was a phenomenal experience and is easily one of the premier programs in the Midwest. Gallup provided a ton of real-world experience for their marketing, sales, and fin-tech internships. There wasn't a single monotonous project that I worked on. We had the opportunity to shadow full-time employees, meet C-Suite executives, work on projects with both interns and employees, and choose projects that we were passionate about. Gallup also spent quite a bit of time training and certifying their interns in relevant tools such as Google Analytics, SEMrush, Google Ads, and Hootsuite. From a work-culture perspective, Gallup is world-class. Managers at Gallup are called "go-tos" and do a great job developing their employees. Your work schedule is very flexible, the pay is competitive, the Riverfront campus is beautiful, and intramural are a blast. Couldn't recommend applying enough!

Business Development Intern

May - August 2018 • Omaha, NE

What I liked

I enjoyed the hustle of hitting a sales target. We were given a clear objective: sell out a Gallup course. My manager trusted me to develop my own sales style but gave me practical advice when I asked for it. I was exposed to a number of different industries on sales calls and gained a clear understanding of how business works "in the real world."

What I wish was different

I wish the internship would have been longer. Sales cycles typically take weeks, months or even years & we were challenged to sell in a small window of time.

Advice

This is the best & most challenging internship I had while in college. My success was dependent on how many course seats I sold, not how hard I worked or how many hours I logged. This required a combination of hard work and getting smart about what Gallup does - helping clients understand the value of investing in our learning offerings. My one piece of advice is to ask questions and learn as much as you can while you're there.

What I liked

Hours are flexible, pay is good (you get bonuses for good performance), and it's a fun work environment---managers really work to engage employees. Everyone is positive and upbeat. I loved working there!

What I wish was different

Nothing---it's a great summer job while in school.

Advice

Being detail-oriented and focused is a plus. If you make a mistake, go to a manager right away instead of hoping no one notices.

What I liked

I loved being in an environment that encourages you to work within your Strengths. They were committed to creating a program that provided us with real sales experience. The culture at Gallup is unique in the way that they focus on overall well being of their employees, as well as being results driven. It was a great fit for me!

What I wish was different

If anything I wish the internship would have lasted longer! I went into the experience with an open mind and it helped me to stay flexible throughout the ten weeks.

Advice

To be successful at Gallup in any role, you need to be passionate as well as results driven.
