Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Intern

May - August 2021 • Florence, SC

What I liked

I loved how educational they made the experience, even though it was my first time getting firsthand looks at manufacturing and how supply chain is executed I never felt lost because of this. GE had classroom-style training before we started in our locations that familiarized us with core company ideals and concepts, and all throughout the experience I found more helping-hands than I could count.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more opportunities to lead, however that isn't reflective of the company. My role was meant to be more of an "individual contributor" experience. I always enjoy working with people though so this is the only thing I would've liked to have seen more of.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask questions! Even though it's very complex, this doesn't mean people are going to stonewall you for not knowing. If you go into these industries with a drive to learn and contribute then people will be happy to bring you up to speed.
