I liked how welcoming the entire department was. The division I interned for, Agricultural Inputs, kept me busy with projects that I was able to apply to my studies. I had the ability to shadow anything I was interested in, and the intern coordinators gave us ample opportunities to explore the Department as a whole.
What I wish was different
I wish I saw more of the everyday tasks across different divisions. I was able to see overviews of the others, but only focused on my own division.
Advice
I would say to take advantage of everything you can! The Department of Agriculture is an incredibly welcoming environment, and everyone there is willing to teach you: you just have to ask.
