Camp Counselor

May 2016 • Woodland Park, CO

What I liked

I've been working for 4 years, and I will be going for a 5th year! Depending on the program working at camp can count as a job and internship hours! You spend 7 weeks working with kids (outside of training), hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, possible high ropes course adventures, and so much more! You work on conflict resolution, communication, health, and all kinds of fun programs with kids.

What I wish was different

Nothing! It's an incredible environment with wonderful staff.

Advice

The pay is by the day because you live with the kids. It's a very intense job, but the hard work is worth it. You need to be willing to be flexible at this job because anything can happen.

Zipline/Low-Ropes Lead

May - August 2019 • Woodland Park, CO

What I liked

I loved the flexibility of creating my own daily schedule, the independent, mostly unsupervised work, and of course, the girls!

What I wish was different

I wish the staff had been older in age. Some of my supervisors were younger than me, and it showed.

Advice

You get out what you put in. It’s a tough job, but it makes you grow.
