Junior Architect

What I liked

I have worked here for a few months now and I got to say that I really like the flexibility of working completely remote. The work ethic and experience of everyone at GKG have helped me grow in different levels from gaining new technical skills to leadership skills. For instance, I have been able to improve my Revit skills from a college level to a more professional level. Moreover, I have been able to talk to people in different parts of the design industry and micromanage parts of a project. Most of the projects that the firm works on are healthcare-related. Nevertheless, the firm likes to break from the mold and bring new design ideas to the table to improve this sector. Thus, there is freedom of design for everyone in the GKG team. I think that the best part of GKG is that I feel very welcome as a minority and that the founder George is able to understand someone from a different background and be able to offer the opportunity for self-grow.

What I wish was different

The firm is based in New York and so are most of the projects GKG has worked on. Thus, I would have loved to be able to meet in person every 6 months to improve the team's energy and get to see previous projects and current ones.

Advice

Working remotely is not for everyone so it is important to know if you will be a hundred percent committed to work from your place anywhere in the US.
