Glumac, A Tetra Tech Company

Energy Intern

June - August 2023 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

There were many opportunities for learning in this internship. I found it to be great for my professional career development. There were a multitude of program trainings that gave great background on all facets of work done within the company. Everyone I interacted with, from the president of the company to senior staff and supervisors, were happy to help and knowledgeable.

Mechanical Intern

June - August 2023 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

If I had to summarize Glumac's culture in one word, it would be OPPORTUNITY. Beyond just the internship program, Glumac heavily presents opportunities for interns and employees to learn, network, and experience the whole range of the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) industry. The intern program (led by Andrea Hildan and Jessica Woody) also hosted various training sessions for interns to learn about industry practices, the basis of engineering concepts, and specific software skills (BlueBeam and Revit). Furthermore, it's hard to find a firm that has so many friendly people who genuinely wish for your success. From President Joseph Fong to associate engineers and even the <1-year coworkers, everyone is willing to connect and approach each other as simply "people."

What I wish was different

It ended too quickly! The program was around 2 months for most interns.

Advice

Although it's great to have a lot of technical information, those things can be learned. It's much more valuable to approach the internship with a mindset to grow and engage with the people! Have fun!

What I liked

Everyone a part of the Energy Team and other departments had great energy and made me feel welcome instantly. Those that I worked closely with always took their time to thoroughly answer my questions. The projects challenged me in a good way and I was able to learn how to use Revit.

Knowing a bit about Revit and IES in advance would be beneficial

Mechanical Engineering Intern

May - August 2022 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

Great company that highly prioritizes the education of it's interns. You'll be paired with a current engineer of your discipline who you will help with projects and gain experience in the field. You'll have the option of wfh or in the office. Mechanical interns will essentially be designing HVAC systems through complex projects and the associated equipment.

What I wish was different

Advice

Software being used: Revit. Relevant classes: Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer, HVAC Be comfortable with asking around for help. Many engineers work from home, so you'll often be calling people up for help.
