What I liked

I love how I was able to help teach Japanese high school and college students about individuality, empowerment and leadership while also getting to learn about their culture and way of life. It was also a fantastic experience living with different local host families and traveling to different cities in Japan with other like-minded college students from all over the US.

What I wish was different

Advice

Don't be shy! This is such a great opportunity for you to help others become more confident and comfortable with expressing themselves, as well as a chance to get to know all kinds of people from Japan and around the US. It may be somewhat overwhelming having to interact with so many people all the time, but you'll be able to create so many precious memories and friends.

What I liked

It was a wonderful experience that allowed me to envelope myself in another culture as well as interact and help motivate the youth of 4 Japanese High Schools. The culture, the food, the nature and the people were all so beautiful, peaceful, and respectful.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have stayed longer!

Advice

Bring comfortable clothes for a humid environment, drink plenty of water, and bring a hat! Don't be shy with the people, most everyone is friendly enough to speak to but just be respectful of the culture.
