I loved working at Grasslands, the environment among the employees was super welcoming and friendly, and they were eager to get me on the front lines of the company. During my time they allowed me to work on my strengths (graphic design, social media, etc.), while also allowing me to work on events heavily and even coordinate a social media video series that I can now use in my portfolio. I would recommend students looking to specialize in public relations (maybe looking to become a publicist) go for this position. The office and the people really made the experience the most positive that I could have hoped for. Additionally, getting a look into one specific industry was great for getting a foot in somewhere and having somewhere to expand into after graduation.
What I wish was different
The only thing I might have had a problem with is the fact that I am a graphic design major and this is an exclusively PR firm. Therefore, the opportunities to play to my strengths were somewhat limited, but I appreciated all that Grasslands did to allow me to grow and thrive.
Advice
Although this is a cannabis industry job, it is hard work and you need to expect professionalism. The industry is looking to legitimize itself and it takes itself seriously because of that. That isn't to say the people aren't welcoming and the events are certainly fun, however, do not expect a "chillax" working environment. It is a professional company looking to get outstanding work done for clients.
