About GREATER RIDGEWOOD YOUTH COUNCIL

The GRYC is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that focuses on education, counseling, truancy prevention, job preparation and employment opportunities. The GRYC currently serves over 6,000 children and families annually and are always excited to welcome new members to our family.

The GRYC programs include: the Little Stars Pre-K, attended by 108 children; the I.S. 93 Beacon Program, serving approximately 1,200 youth and adults; a year round Young Adult Internship Program (YAIP), which has, since it's inception, provided nearly 500 young adults with basic skills training, job readiness and internship opportunities; the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) which provides over 1600 young adults with both school year and summertime jobs; nearly two dozen after-school programs (I.S. 25, P.S. 68, I.S. 77, P.S. 81, P.S./I.S. 87, P.S. 88, P.S. 91, I.S. 93, P.S. 102, I.S. 113, P.S./IS 128, P.S./M.S. 138, P.S. 153, P.S. 164, P.S. 239, P.S. 306, Hawtree Creek Middle School, Middle Village Prep Charter School, York Early College Academy, St Thomas the Apostle, St. Adalbert, and Divine Mercy).

The GRYC is a safe haven for neighborhood youth and their families. We use a wide range of comprehensive and multifaceted programs to help children and adults find new avenues of learning and utilize everyday life experiences.

Our Mission
The mission of the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council is to improve the quality of life for youths and families in the borough of Queens through service. The GRYC fosters a climate of purposeful inclusion where all can feel respected, safe, and connected. We welcome and cherish the diversity of humanity, which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective. These beliefs allow us to offer educational, recreational, cultural, and employment programs which empower ALL people to explore new avenues of learning and positive life experiences. The GRYC is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), non-sectarian organization serving community youth and families since 1980.
