I really liked this opportunity to work with kids. I found that running day-to-day activities was rewarding because it gave kids a reason to get outside and be creative in the Summer.
What I wish was different
I worked with young children aged 3-4 and I think that I may have enjoyed working with an older group.
Advice
I would advise any students looking to work with kids to practice patience. It can be difficult to work with young kids especially some can be more challenging than others. Patience is an important characteristic. I would also remind them to be as outgoing as possible in order to make kids feel comfortable. Many kids are shy and very reluctant to talk to their peers when they are as young as 3 and may have no experience in a camp or school-like setting.
