I loved seeing the impact of providing garden materials and education had on our community members.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have been more involved in capturing data and reporting via neighborhood maps.

Advice

Gathering, delivering, and building garden materials is a physically demanding job that should not be taken lightly. Be prepared to work hard. All the physical labor pays off with how much joy you are bringing to community members receiving free gardens. If I could do it all again, I would have journaled every person I met and all the information we talked about, so that I can build a stronger network.

Marketing and outreach intern

What I liked

The overall marketing experience I got was great. Had a lot of responsibilities and projects to work on throughout the internship. My mentor was extremely helpful and made sure I was obtaining marketing and outreach skills throughout the internship.

What I wish was different

I wish I got paid but it was a nonprofit, other than that it was perfect.

Advice

This internship is highly focused on your improvement with marketing, outreach to other businesses and other skills necessary for a marketing job so I would go into it with a great attitude and approach everything with confidence and it’ll be a great overall experience.
