What I liked

I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to research a topic of academic and personal interest with the expertise and guidance of a research advisor! I was able to navigate the critical terrain of my work while developing an invaluable research skillset.

What I wish was different

I would have benefitted from learning how other students approached their remote research process. Conducting research remotely was a struggle for me, and I think I would have benefitted from touching base with other students doing research. That way, the experience and its challenges feel more communal.

Advice

Trust the struggle of the process! For this kind of research experience, your process is more valuable than your product. I learned my most valuable lessons from struggling with my process than what I ultimately produced.

Summer Research Participant

What I liked

I liked that I was able to complete dentistry shadowing hours and study for the DAT while still completing my research. The summer research program allows all students involved to become closer with each other and the professors they're interacting with outside of a regular school year.

Advice

For anyone interested in post college research or grad school, summer research projects provide a a good resume boost, good money, and an overall good experience.
