The staff was very supportive! I also liked how the program scaffolded support around each mentee. The best part was meeting with my mentee 3-4 times/month and seeing my student develop academically and personally.
What I wish was different
We were required to meet in the mentees’s school property. Her high school did not have the best space to meet. I wish Hillsborough County schools in general would provide TSIC mentors with better access to facilities and cross communication with student’s counselors.
Advice
Definitely a growth experience for all involved if we follow program protocol and allow the student access to our thoughts, ideas, and experiences.
