Ibu Movement

About Ibu Movement

Ibu, pronounced ee-boo, is a movement of women around the world growing into economic self-sufficiency through the art of their hands. Working with 100+ artisan groups, in over 50 countries, Ibu celebrates the imagination and skill of women and puts money in their hands.

In the Malay language of Indonesia, Ibu means a woman of respect. Ibu artisans and allies alike belong to a world-wide web of self-authorized women on the move.

Ibu offers original designs by also collaborating with our ambassador designers to bring you elegant, bold, powerful handmade luxury.

The Ibu Foundation provides capacity-building grants to artisan groups looking to grow their businesses.

Digital Communications and Web Development Intern

January 2020 Charleston, SC
“I loved that this position was remote, and I enjoyed bringing my insight regarding web development to the team — I was able to help redesign their company’s website! This was also my first time working with a nonprofit, so I quickly learned how to implement a much more humanitarian tone instead of the usual competitive tone, “Buy me now! I’m the best!” verbiage that’s used by for-profit companies. ”
