“They made it a point to make me feel like an employee and not an intern. Instead of giving me cookie cutter tasks, they assigned projects that gave me the opportunity to grow my knowledge base and skills. These projects had direct influence on their operations and standard processes. They also made it a point to give me time in different departments outside of engineering so I could see the bigger picture of their business. Something that stuck with me was when I was told I can be a design engineer if I get hired full time, but as an intern they wanted to see me grow as an engineer, learn new things about structural steel and design, and see what I can do on my own. This is a great summary of how they approached the interns and focused on seeing us grow and develop instead of using us as office assistants or to knock a few things off their to-do list. ”
