I absolutely love my job. Working with special needs individuals on a daily basis is so rewarding. I got to build relationships with the individuals I cared for, and it is nothing short of amazing. Working for LCBDD/Deepwood has been my favorite job I have ever had!
What I wish was different
Caring for individuals with severe special needs can be difficult sometimes, and it is nice to have coworkers there to support you. Some coworkers I was on shift with were not very helpful and did not have a team mentality. I wish some of the workers would be more willing to help me care for the individuals.
Advice
Enjoy every minute! I am grateful for this experience and for the relationships I have built with the special needs individuals; however, when I am away at school, I miss them so much. I am lucky to have someone to miss, but it is very hard sometimes. Just enjoy all the time you get to spend with them.
