What I liked

I enjoy the challenge of learning menu items and interacting with guests. As I became more familiar with the menu, I was able to assist the guests more naturally. Being a server allows me to better communicate with strangers and sway their descisions. This profession further exercises my ability to control and maneuver a scenerio in the direction that is best for the business. Even if it is an exercise completed one table at a time.

What I wish was different

I wish I could improve the teamwork environment. Without the proper training and habits being passed down from one group of new employees to the next, tension and misunderstandings form unnessassary problems that hinder the flow of the business.

Advice

Be adaptive to what ever scenerio the industry throws at you. What you expect is not what you will experience right out of the gate. Allow yourself the humility to be instructed and criticized for your actions, and learn from it. Then over time, your experience will allow you to fit into the dynamics of the industry while allowing yourself to integrate your unique skills into the work environment.

What I liked

I liked being about to practice my speech craft while trying to make sales to tourists.

What I wish was different

I wish I had worked more hours and saved more money.

Advice

Don't work at a tourist restaurant unless you want your sections to be determined by how much retail and souvenirs you can sell.
