Digital Marketing, E-commerce, and Social Media Intern
April - October 2019 • Mesa, AZ
What I liked
Flexibility of the workload. Using Slack to communicate. Getting to add products to Shopify. Becoming more familiar with Instagram, though it was minimal.
What I wish was different
There wasn't much room for growth and gaining new knowledge. The tasks assigned to me didn't quite match what I expected to learn in this robust field. Tasks were simple and kind of no-brainer things. I didn't come out of it feeling like I have a lot of new knowledge in digital marketing, e-commerce, or social media.
Advice
Find an internship that matches what you'd like to do and ask a lot of questions about what projects you might be assigned to complete before you accept an internship. My projects were little things to help the owner but nothing was significant and I didn't end up with much that I'd put onto a resume. Know what you want to be able to add to your resume and seek those things.
