Dev Intern

May - August 2018 • Venice, CA

What I liked

The people are incredibly inviting and open to helping you acquire a new skill or assist in solving whatever problem you might have. The internship itself was quite open-ended so I had the freedom to help with whatever project and learn about the ins and outs of the company. The weekly events and activities led to a more tightly knit team and sense of community.

What I wish was different

While the open-ended structure of the internship was great in allowing the interns freedom, I wished there was more structure. We were given a project to fulfill, but the specifications of the project were quite broad, leaving room for confusion. I also wished I had known about the position I was going into - I had assumed that my role would be a general intern position, rather than a Dev intern position.

Advice

If you're joining a company, first understand what position it is you're getting into. Another important factor is to get to know the people who work at the company, since it is the people who make and define the company, after all.
