Lab Worker

March 2019 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I enjoyed learning new aspects of lab work and exploring a possible future career. Time in the lab is important for me personally to discover if I enjoy the research career path I may take. In the lab, everything is hands on and instructional, and I enjoyed the step-by-step aid that I received through every assignment.

What I wish was different

The only thing that I would change would be having a diversification of experiments or tasks that I was given, rather than completing the same. However, I understand that I am doing what needs to be done within the lab and completing my job.

Advice

I would say to anyone looking into lab work that it is very much a hit-or-miss career; you either love it or you don't. It is an experience to get a glimpse into one side of the healthcare world, or even just research world, and can really benefit any big, scary career decisions you make in the future. Give it a try if you're interested!
