Tennis Coach

May 2016 - September 2019 • Cupertino, CA

What I liked

My fellow coaches were a pleasure to work with; everyone thinks alike. I got to work with great children from ages 4-15. They taught me a lot about child development and human behavior.

What I wish was different

I wish my ego had not overtaken me. After 3 years of experience, I got really good at coaching. During the summer, I started coasting on tried-and-true drills and exercises. I would think less actively as a coach and my students' improvement slowed. I would say I forgot how to coach because I forgot to actively think.

Advice

There's no single way to coach. Coaches have to be varied and think openly.
