Medomak Family Camp

Dairy Counselor

May - August 2017 • Washington, ME

What I liked

Very independent work. I love animals and enjoyed working with the dairy cows. It was peaceful, hard and honest work. I learned many new things, like how to take care of Dairy cows, how to pasteurize work, how to make ice cream, cheese and yogurt. I worked to meet deadlines and had to milk two times a day, at the same time, each day. I had one day off a week, and saw alot of amazing places in Maine and even saw Boston for the first time. I met many internationals and so many great people.

What I wish was different

I enjoyed everything about my work there.

Advice

This job requires someone who is good at taking responsibility for their work and actions. It would be good if you can put pride into your work and produce products that will represent the camp well. This job is at a camp, so you need to very friendly, because even though you aren't a counselor and not working with the families all the time, you need to be providing good customer service.
