Medical Scribe

April 2019 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

Working as an emergency room medical scribe you get all the experience without the direct patient care. Between 5 to 12 hour shifts, I follow an emergency medical physician from room-to-room while the Doctor physically examines patients. My job, is to document all aspects: history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam, course updates, and more directly into the patient's chart.

What I wish was different

Advice

As first, it was a difficult job to train for. There is 15 sessions of classroom training, and five days of floor training. My advice is to practice the material you learn daily and stick with the job! I love the experience of seeing cases of all different natures in the Cleveland area.
