Monarch Tractor

Mechanical Roof and Battery Intern

June - September 2022 • Livermore, CA

What I liked

- plenty of hands on experience - ownership of direct parts - welcoming and fun working environment - opportunity to learn a lot about industry automotive and manufacturing practices and processes

What I wish was different

- more structured internship program (although it is a start-up so that was a trade off) - I wish there were employee resource groups (diversity groups) (maybe they added some after I left, though)

Advice

- I advise to work for a start-up. You learn a lot and gain valuable experience, and learn to be independent and seek out opportunities. You can make connections across departments more easily in a small company too.

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

June - September 2022 • Livermore, CA

What I liked

Dynamic, fast-paced work environment; genuine focus on mitigating climate change; free lunch daily; several professional speaker events; passionate, driven, and caring coworkers; plenty of opportunities to work across teams and build different skills; time off requests approved in timely fashion.

What I wish was different

More structure to internship program and events organized for interns; more comprehensive onboarding documentation; forewarning about appearance of executives during team meetings.

Advice

Take the initiative to speak with coworkers in different departments and take opportunities to work on projects that’ll broaden your skill base, you won’t regret it.
