What I liked
I did lots of research for the President and Vice President. I primarily researched race-related issues, such as gerrymandering, redistricting and voter I.D. laws. It was a very eye-opening experience into the world of civil rights and public policy.
What I wish was different
There wasn't enough work for myself and the other interns. There also wanted as much mentorship as you would expect.
Advice
Go in prepared to learn a lot about civil rights history and race relations in the U.S.

What I liked
The ability to learn from a nonprofit organization and have a internship within the Hollywood industry. I was able to create and produce content for the San Antonio convention for the NAACP while providing coverage resources for a production company called, MACRO (which is devoted to highlighting POC media).
What I wish was different
I wish that it was longer. I was only in Los Angeles for two months, but due to some complications on their part I showed up later than expected.
Advice
I suggest that people take every opportunity to network with people. Especially fellow interns whether its industry events or getting lunches.

Legislative Intern

What I liked
I loved gaining hands-on experience to the legal world! I got to attend Senate breifings on the hill, analye economics policy, and meet lots of poiticians and lawyers.
What I wish was different
I wish I had been a bit busier! Sometimes being an intern means lots of down time in the office, which can feel a bit stagnanting.
Advice
Ask tons of questions! Learning about the legal system was incredibly helpful as I considered planning my future career. Plus, it was a great way to network.
